- Called 'Mr Mars' by most of the staff (despite his insistence they call him just Mars); 'Mars' by Oudine and Remont; 'Rainteau' by the Dowager
- Was Remont's bodyguard before he was requested to guard Oudine instead after recent events; generally very reticent, sarcastic, and immensely loyal to the Aubemarles
- Has known the twins since their teenage years, after Remont managed to prevent Mars being thrown in gaol for the fourth time
